If you ever want to be an instant star at any party or bar or other social gathering that you find yourself in, then learning a few magic tricks can have a wonderful effect. Most people love to see an impromptu magician, and are really impressed if he or she is only halfway decent. There are a couple of tricks you can learn that will easily impress many people.

One kind that you can learn is your basic sleight of hand trick This is where you get everybody to pay attention to one of your hands, while your other hand does all the work. Covertly pulling cards out of your sleeve is an example of a sleight of hand trick.

Another kind of trick is mathematical tricks that are used with a deck of cards. These tricks are based on pure math, and are easy to learn. Sometimes they are referred to as self working tricks, as they don’t require any skill. Just that you practice the trick ahead of time. The cool thing about these tricks is that they are easy to learn. One drawback, however, is that once somebody figures them out, they lose their appeal.

Another kind of magic trick is when you pretend to be psychic. This is when you use simple principles of human psychology to make people you think you have super psychic powers. This really impresses people. Especially at a bar or a party when people may have had something to drink.

The biggest kind of trick, the ones you see people doing on TV, require all kinds of props, and assistants, and lots and lots of preparation. Sawing people in half, escaping out of an underwater are a couple of these tricks. Of course, most amateur magicians don’t have the time for these, so we just usually leave them to the professionals.

Just by learning a couple magic tricks, you can really realize how popular you’ll naturally become at parties and social gatherings. You’ll never be at a loss for an invitation out on the weekend again.
